Joint Clinic Research Center (JCRC)
Faster Patient Access by Improving Online Health Services
Healthcare Service Website UX
The Joint Clinic Research Center Uganda (JCRC) is a leading healthcare institution dedicated to providing comprehensive services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases. The website redesign aims to enhance user experience, accessibility, and communication with patients, researchers, and healthcare professionals.
Accessibility and Clarity: A Crucial Need for Healthcare Services
The challenge with the current JCRC website is that it fails to meet the needs of its diverse audience. While the information is present, it is difficult for visitors to find relevant resources quickly. Many individuals looking for life-saving information or services are frustrated by poor navigation, unclear calls to action, and the overwhelming volume of technical healthcare jargon. The site must also provide a smooth user experience for those seeking specific research and treatment details.
We aim to simplify the digital experience for patients, researchers, and healthcare providers alike, ensuring that important information is easily accessible.
Key Challenges + Solution
Website Navigation Overhaul
The site lacks intuitive navigation, making it hard for users to find treatment options, research projects, or patient resources quickly.
Many healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers are unsure where to go for the right information, leading to a frustrating experience.
Clarity and Content Organization
The website has a lot of information but presents it in a cluttered, text-heavy format that is hard to digest.
The redesign must ensure that content is broken down into digestible sections for both technical audiences (researchers) and non-technical visitors (patients and caregivers).
Mobile Responsiveness
With mobile internet usage on the rise in Uganda, a significant portion of users access the website via mobile devices. The current website design doesn’t function optimally on mobile devices, leading to poor user experience.
The Solution: A User-Centric Redesign
During our discovery phase, we aimed to identify the most critical needs of the website's users. Through surveys, interviews, and analytics, we determined the following objectives:
How?
Simplify navigation with an intuitive structure for easy access to key healthcare information.
Break down content into scannable formats with visuals for better accessibility and understanding.
Ensure mobile optimization for seamless browsing across all devices, enhancing user experience.
Enable self-service features for patients to book appointments, access records, and resources.
Create a research hub to share JCRC's findings and publications with healthcare professionals.
Refined iconography for clearer navigation and usability
